She is also Board Certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine and is a graduate of the Hippocrates Health Institute Life Change program. A 1987 cum laude graduate of the Emory University School of Medicine, Dr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Taylor University, where she studied exercise physiology and biomechanics. She began her medical career after college as a paramedic at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Johnson is a Certified HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine. She has participated in numerous professional medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the American Medical Women’s Association. She is also a Diplomate of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine. She was a founding member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine and is a Physician Investigator for the AIDS Research Consortium of Atlanta.

Dr. Johnson is a CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) Trainer. She was a Team Physician for the American College of Sports Medicine and served as a physician for the 1995 Ironman Triathlon World Championship. She was Physician Coordinator for the Peachtree Road Race Medical Team from 1997-2007 and was a volunteer physician for the U.S. Olympic Training Center in 1999.

Stacy Arens-Sorlie earned her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and is also a magna cum laude graduate of the Physician Assistant Program at Midwestern University. She also holds a BS in Nutritional Science from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. She has been working in the healthcare field for more than 12 years, having most recently served as a Physician Assistant at Northwestern Specialists for Women in Chicago, and recently returned from a volunteer service trip in Ghana, Africa.


Susan Shockey – Office Manager

Susan Shockey is the Office Manager of Midtown West Medical.  Susan has been a part of the team since 2005, working first for several years as the Office Supervisor, and transitioning into her current position as Office Manager.  She has worked in the healthcare field for 20 years, and spent the first 13 years of her career as Office Manager for a Chiropractic Practice.

Susan and her life partner travel whenever they can to see their granddaughter, Brennan and grandson, Ryland; spending as much time as possible with the grandchildren is certainly a priority. They also enjoy traveling to visit their daughter in Ohio, and Susan’s extended family in Kentucky. At home, Susan enjoys gardening and working in her yard, cooking, photography, and writing poetry.
